Question:
Answer:
Just inspected area and I don't see any damage. We don't hang heavy items on it though.
By JMama18 on October 20, 2014
I have it on the back of my wooden bedroom door which is not painted but stained. It has left no marks so far and I suppose it only would if I rubbed it back and forth. I like it a lot and recommend it highly.
By Rick on October 19, 2014
It could. It's a powder coated metal so it's smooth, but if you were to move it around a lot then I have no doubt that it could damage the paint. That being said, no damage so far over here.
By WBA on October 19, 2014
It has not for me. But it could if you put things on and off it a lot. It is just metal against the door. The metal is finished and has no rough edges but if you moved it around some it would eventually mar the paint. You could put a stick-on rubber "foot" on it where it contacts the painted part of the door. They have…

The door that I use it on is an all wood door with no paint but it has not scratch the wood in any way. I hope this helps.
By Angel on October 19, 2014
no, i have not experienced any paint damage
By Jaz on October 20, 2014
This completely scratched off the paint on my door and the frame around the door, and I didn't even have anything hanging from it yet. It just happened over the period of about 4 days. & I live an apartment, so now I'm going to have to pay for the paint repair.

Question:
Answer:
I don't have a problem shutting the door, but it does make a little bit of noise
By Rayna_V on July 8, 2014
It depends on how far away the door and the frame are. I used in my old apartment, the door shuts perfectly. Now in my new apartment it gets a little hard, but still can do. I think you will be able to shut the door in most cases, but I would not recommend using it on an extremely expensive door if you want to stay awa…
By Zhen Liu on July 8, 2014
yes, no problems
By C. oliver on July 10, 2014
Yes, without any problem.
By Surya on July 8, 2014
Yes.
By CJ on July 8, 2014
No
By tory ferreira on July 10, 2014
I was worried about that too, but the metal is quite thin at the top and my door shuts perfectly fine with it on.

Question:
Answer:
1 and 3/4th" and perhaps a teeny bit more than that...it fits in a bit to clasp securely at the top of the door and thusly will not slip off.
By Beth Peterson on February 17, 2013
I think we have >1", probably 1 3/8" but there is plenty of room for a thicker door. I can measure on Tuesday if you wish.
By J. E. Haubenreich on February 18, 2013
This fits my door perfectly snug and my door is about 1.75" (about 1" and 5.5/8")
By RCY on February 17, 2013
I just measured our office door and it's 1 3/4" thick. The hanger fits perfectly.
By J. E. Haubenreich on February 19, 2013
It fits all doors in my home and work EXCEPT for the ones leading to the outdoors. Any thick insulated or metal doors are too wide but any indoor doors are good I must have bought over 10 of these for work and for home( I have 6 daughters). I love it!
By leslie pai on February 17, 2013
This unit 11 inches long from top of door to bottom hooks and 16 3/4 inches across. It's really nice and solid and would go over the top of a door from 1" to 3" because you can tightened or loosen it by hand.

Question:
Answer:
It should accommodate towels-- we hand a lot of heavy things on it (e.g. bathrobes)
A 5 foot person should be able to reach... if that helps.

By Channah Levin on March 3, 2016
Yes towels would work too. The same as all the others. About 11 inches
By Debbie Kresge on March 3, 2016
From top of the door it hangs about a feet and half. I am short too but it works well and can accommodate towels as well.
By Archana on March 3, 2016
It doesn't hang far, I'm 6'3" and the his are just a little below eye level on me. And I can't think of a reason it wouldn't work with towels
By Coaltown992 on March 2, 2016
It hangs about 1/4 down the door im 5'9 and the hook is even with my chest. And yes for towels
By Patrick J. Murphy Sr. on March 3, 2016
hangs around 1 feet from the top of the door. I use it for towels everyday.
By Varun on March 3, 2016
Hangs down 11" from top of door. Handles anything you can hang from a hook.
