7 Surprising Applications of Bleach. It Can Be Used as a Herbicide but It’s Just One of Them!

Lots of items we use every day have got several non-standard applications. A typical example is WD-40 which can be put to use in several situations. Using activated carbon you can make whitening toothpaste or use it as food coloring agent. You might be familiar with these pretty common tricks. However, we hope to surprise you today with 7 things you can use your bleach for.

#1 Licensed to kill (weeds)

Are you still looking for a way to get rid of the grass and weeds growing in the gaps between your garden tiles or paving stones? Next time you work in the garden grab a bottle of bleach and pour a little as close to the plants’ base as possible.

Once you are in your garden, why not sterilize all your shovels and hoes? Make a 1:4 solution of bleach and water. Once your tools are clean, they will no longer spread disease and bacteria from one part of the garden to another.

#3 Make glass items shine like they were new again

If you want to throw a formal party for your family, but the dishes are no longer crystal clear, add a teaspoonful of bleach to the dishwasher. The glasses will glitter and shine!

#4 Get rid of moss

To eliminate moss spray it with a mixture of a glass of bleach and a gallon of water. After a few minutes wash the mixture away.

#5 Small garden ponds

If there is a small pond in your garden, you must have notices that it attracts quite a few insects. To get rid of mosquitoes put a few drops of bleach to the water. Remember, however, that water will be no longer drinkable. Make sure that your pets or kids never drink it. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN YOU ADD BLEACH OR ANY OTHER CHEMICAL AGENTS TO NATURAL WATER RESERVOIRS.

#6 Refresh your fence

If your fence has gone greyish because of mold, dust and dirt, spray it with a solution of water and bleach. Always remember to protect the environment – use sheets of cardboard or some plastic bags to protect grass.

#7 Vase flowers

Your flowers will stay fresh a few days longer if you put a few drops into the water.

Have you ever heard of any tricks like those above?
